New Mithril Releases | Thorin and Roac & Angbor of Lamedon metal figures available in December 2015.

Mithril Miniatures has released in December 2015 two more winning ideas from their Fellowship club. These ideas were suggested by and voted on by members of that club last year.
Thorin and Roac | Mithril Miniatures metal figure.

The first one is Thorin and Roac. Roac is an intelligent Raven that acted as an intelligence gathering agent for the Dwarves and especially Thorin Oakenshield.

Angbor of Lamedon | Mithril Miniatures metal figure.

The second release is Angbor of Lamedon, a Lord of one of Gondor's provinces. He lead his small army against the landing parties of Corsairs during the War of the Ring until releaved by Aragorn with his army of dead. He then brought his forces to the capital, Minas Tirith, to assist in resisting the besieging Mordorian armies.

Both of these fine miniatures were designed by Chris Tubb and will require a small amount of assembly. They are pre-primed.

New Christmas Decoration moulds - Female Carol Singer, Snowman and Child Angel

Prince August has already a wonderful collection of Christmas decoration moulds but these three new ones further enhance the choice you have when it comes to decorate your Christmas tree. These have different details on both sides. You can cast from each mould hundreds of times using our Model Metal.

The new Xmas decorations shown here are the Female Carol Singer, Child Angel with Star and Snowman with Top Hat. Each mould has one decoration. These are flat figures when cast. On average you should be able to cast about three figures per 125 gram ingot, provided the ingates are remelted each time.

RTE Nationwide coverage of the Toy Soldier Factory and Battle of Waterloo Exhibit 14th October 2015

At the start of August 2015 RTE showed interest in including our Toy Soldier Factory in one of their upcoming Nationwide programs. Several staff were interviewed and so was André Rudolph, the creator of the huge Battle of Waterloo diorama currently on exhibit in our visitor center.

Finally on October 14th 2015, the program aired and we were shown in the second half of that episode. We are very pleased with the segment and are grateful to those involved with RTE for having shared our business with the rest of their audience.

With that in mind Prince August has cut the prices of their bargain starter kits by 50% until noon on October 21st 2015 UTC+1.

New Release | 3 Battle of Waterloo leaders as 25mm scale primed metal figures

Prince August recently started hosting a huge diorama of the Battle of Waterloo at their Toy Soldier Factory Visitor Center, and realised that they had never made the three leaders of the major powers that took part in that historical battle, even though they had a wide selection of rubber moulds for casting the soldiers and regular officers.
This inspired them to produce these and make them available to allow other wargamers or historical diorama builders to have these legendary men as part of their vision.
The three leaders are as follows: Prussian Field Marshal Blücher, French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte and the Allied British Commander, Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington.

French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte
These three figures are mounted and pre-primed so as soon as you get them you can paint them. The rider and horse are not glued or cast together to allow for an easier time in painting all the details before final assembly.
Allied British Commander Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington
Prince August has also catered for those collectors that do not want to paint the figures themselves and have options where a customer can choose whether they want a hand painted figure, antique finished figure or the default primed figure. A simple tick box makes this selection a snap.

For the next 4 days or so Prince August is also giving the primed figures away for FREE when someone purchases one of their Army Packs. For each army pack chosen there is an option to select ONE leader as well. An army pack is a great bundle deal that includes metal with a selection of moulds at a low price that allows you to cast an army at unbeatable rates.
This offer expires at noon on October 13th 2015 UTC+1.

New Mithril Release | Lord Golasgil of Anfalas

Golasgil, Lord of Anfalas | New Mithril Miniature
Golasgil, Lord of Anfalas.

Last years Fellowship August winner is finally released. This highly detailed mounted Gondorian Lord is Golasgil, one of the lesser known lords of Gondor, who lead an army to aid his capital of Minas Tirith during the War of the Ring. His forces were defeated in the Battle of Plennor Fields but it is believed that he survived that encounter as no record is provided of his death. Anfalas is one of the poorer regions and thus his army largely consisted of hunters and farmers rather than warriors, which unsurprisingly resulted in their destruction when facing crazed and fanatical Mordorian Orcs and their allies.
The fellowship member responsible for submitting this fine idea is 'mcdsean'. This was his first victory and first idea, although it took several tries to win the day.
This figure is 32mm scale, and is primed but it will require assembly before painting.

New Mithril Release | Eldacar in combat with Castamir

Eldacar in combat with Castamir
Eldacar in combat with Castamir.
 MS614: Eldacar slays Castamir.

Eldacar was the twenty-first king of Gondor, and during his turbulent reign  a civil war broke out in the southern realm, which is known in the annals as the Kin-strife. Led by Castamir,  Gondor’s  captain of ships, the rebels besieged  Eldacar’s capital which in those days was Osgiliath. Their chief grievance was that Eldacar had married a Northmen wife and had, in their eyes, diluted the purity of Dunedain blood. Initially driven out of Osgiliath and forced to take refuge in in Rhovanion, Eldacar mustered his forces and marched south once more to confront the rebels. At a great battle at the crossings of Erui in 1447TA. Eldacar won the day and slew Castamir with his own hand, thus re-establishing the legitimate line of Gondor.

Mithril Miniatures released this double figure set in September 2015. It was the winning idea from July 2014. These miniatures are 32mm scale metal figures that have a primer added.

New Russian Army Moulds from the Seven Years War range on Prince August in July 2015

Seven Years War Russian Release of Moulds by Prince August
Prince August previously released the Hungarian regiments from the Austrian Army in late 2014, and due to a large amount of renovation of their factory, had a hiatus on new releases. But now that the work has largely finished they are back making new and exciting soldier moulds once again.
This time they are releasing four new moulds from the Russian Army, with Summer and Winter Uniforms. As with the previous releases they all have interchangeable heads so even with four moulds, there is a wide scope for creativity. These new moulds include Grenadiers and Musketeers and have the usual Standard Bearers, Drummers, NCO's and Officers included.

For those not familiar with the series, these are 40mm scale figures that customers can cast hundreds of times at home using these black rubber moulds. Full assembly and painting guides are included and there is historical data detailing the type of army setup was popular for each faction. You can download most of these as pdfs from the website product pages.

The Seven Years' War was a mid 18th Century worldwide conflict, perhaps the most internationally fought war to date in human history. So far Prince August has included the Prussians, Austrians, Hungarian regiments in the Austrian army and, as of July 2015, the Russians.

Future expansions will include cavalry and artillery.

3 New Lord of the Rings Mithril Miniatures in June 2015, plus a bonus discount offer.

Forlong the Fat, Thorondir and Vorondil LOTR miniatures
Way back in 2005, Mithril changed dramatically the Fellowship club, rebranding it the Gold Status Fellowship club where members could suggest new ideas every month and vote on the results. This proved very popular and after 10 years we have an imaginative crop of exciting miniatures available.

Over the last half year there was a hiatus on releasing new miniatures due to a shift in priorities as we prepared for the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo. However now Mithril can return to releasing highly sought after miniatures sourced from Tolkien's books, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

Today three more 32mm scale miniatures are available to collect and cherish. Forlong the Fat was an idea from 2013 that required a redesign before it could be released this month and Thorondir of Gondor and Vorondil the hunter (left to right on picture above) were both stewards of Gondor and were winners from June and September last year.

As a special bonus, Mithril is offering for one week only a coupon code that gives a generous discount when all three miniatures are bought together. Just add 10YEARBONUS to the coupon field at checkout or in your account and you will ONLY pay 39.95 Euro (ex. tax). This is a saving of 11.26 Euro on R.R.P. This offer expires at noon on July 7th 2015 (BST).

This offer replaces any autoshipment discounts. All customers should order this through Mithril's website.

30% off chess set moulds until April 3rd

Prince August has slashed its prices on all its chess moulds, excluding the newest release, the Medieval chess, and the spare pawn moulds until noon on Friday April 3rd 2015 (BST).

There is nothing quite as satisfying as playing a game of chess that you made yourself. It adds extra zing to the whole experience. Prince August has a wide array of themes to choose from as well so you will never be bored by being forced to cast the same thing over and over.

One of the most popular chess sets are the Staunton chess set, which has no historical theme, but is favoured by chess players who simply want a classic looking set, without the distractions of themes. It is also the cheapest chess set to make as it only requires one side instead of two and needs a LOT less metal to cast due to the thinner pieces.

The 2nd most popular set is our Crusades chess set, which includes Richard the Lionheart vs Saladin. These are knights and castle pieces that fit the chess theme seamlessly. The popularity of this set inspired us to make another medieval themed set. It was actually an accident that the new Medieval set, based on the Battle of Agincourt, would be released on the 600th anniversary of that historical event. It must be fate.

Casting a chess set may seem daunting but it actually is incredibly easy. Once you have warmed up your moulds you can cast a chess piece in 5 minutes. It will not be long before you have the entire set cast and primed awaiting the decision on how to paint them. Many sets have painting guides but, as with many open ended creative hobbies, you can do a bit of historical research yourself and paint the figures to your hearts content.
Here is a sample of what one customer, John Lubinski, did when he let his creative juices flow. This chess set is the Field of Cloth of Gold, Henry VIII and Francis I.

Tragedy Strikes at the heart of new Battle of Waterloo Exhibit.

Prince August today has found out that the shipment of the new Battle of Waterloo diorama has gone missing. It was shipped via container as it is a massive 8 meters by 4 meters diorama containing 15,000 hand painted and hand cast miniatures.

We know that it left Cologne intact but when it was being transferred to a container in Rotterdam, something went wrong. The container was found empty when port officials checked them before transport today and the entire diorama, dismantled into 42 packages 1 meter square have gone missing.

Prince August is in contact with André Rudolph, its creator over an eight year period. He is shocked and dismayed at the news but hopes that the police will find some leads.
We are still not sure what the motive is for this giant theft but people should watch out for any offers of large quantities of 25mm Napoleonic metal miniatures on Ebay or Amazon over the next few days.
If you have any questions about this tragic tale please contact Michael at Prince August today.
Update April 2nd: This was a hoax.

New Prince August Medieval Chess Moulds to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt.

Prince August in March 2015 has released their latest 54mm scale metal chess set as moulds. This means you can cast and paint them however you want. Typically Prince August offers some painting guides to hobby casters that are fond of quick and simple tips on painting this historical chess set.

http://shop.princeaugust.ie/pa727-medieval-chess-set-english-side-moulds/

http://shop.princeaugust.ie/pa728-medieval-chess-set-french-side-moulds/

The battle of Agincourt took place in 1415 and the two kings involved were Henry V and Charles VI. The English army consisted of a lot of archers with their longbows and even though they were outnumbered on the day, due to many varied factors, including wet weather and poor French tactics, the English gained a complete victory. It resulted in many French knights either dying or being captured for ransom.

This chess set can represent any battle between the French and English during the Hundred Years' War period of conflict during those centuries.

Each side has three moulds and each mould has two figures per mould. These moulds are vulcanised rubber so will allow many hundreds of castings before wear and tear become a factor in the quality of the castings, if you use low melting point metal. Prince August promotes their Model Metal as the very best metal for any castings, with its fine details and low melting point, it is guaranteed to give a fantastic finish.

Another bonus for this set is that there is no assembly required at all. The only thing to glue together is the soft felt bases underneath the chess pieces to help protect the chess boards from scratches during use.

So if you enjoy highly detailed metal pieces, with well researched historical themes, then this new set is up your alley. To cast a full 32 pieces you should budget for about 16 bars of metal (a little less than 2kg).

Warzone Resurrection Wargaming Range added to Prince August

Warzone has been a very popular range of wargaming miniatures and games for Prince August stockists since first acquired in 2006. In 2015, Prince August is expanding that game to include the brand new Resurrection series, by Prodos games.
In March the first shipment has arrived and contains all the Warzone Resurrection miniatures & vehicles from Imperial, Bauhaus and Dark Legion forces.

Warzone Resurrection Bauhaus Starter Box contents

This game is compatible with the Classic series of Warzone Mutant Chronicles so you can either use many of these miniatures with the older game, or use your current stock of older miniatures with the new game rules. Some new miniatures do exist however and they are impressive and exciting additions to be sure.

There has been a lot of buzz about this new long awaited game release and you can certainly find plenty of discussion online about it. Here is a video review of the new book of rules and some Dark Legion forces.

One massive advantage of the new range is the availability of the larger vehicles that were either unavailable previously from Prince August or had sold out over the intervening time. These currently include the Black Widow, Grizzly Tank, Hurricane Walker and Greyhound LAFV as well as many others.
These larger vehicles add extra carnage and help balance out the game and give you far more options than you had before. There are even an upgrade for the already ultra powerful Hurricane Walker if you really want to own the battlefield. I pity the enemy player that tries to stop one of those.
So if you are a fan of Warzone, all the way from the early 90's, or just looking for a great tabletop game that has great sci-fi sculpts and easy learning curve, then this game should be your first choice.
